The Barrie Sterling Manufacturing awards acknowledge Barrie’s highest-performing manufacturers. ESS was recognized for its focus on high-quality manufacturing products and processes, employee development, and corporate leadership.
March 21, 2018: ESS Manufacturing Approved for DLA’s US/Canada Joint Certification Program
The Cambridge/Canada Joint Certification Office, through the DLA Logistics Information Services organization, provided the formal approval for ESS’s entry into the Joint Certification Program (JCP). The JCP certification expands ESS’s ability to serve US and Canadian defense contractors.

Rapid industry consolidation among component suppliers, distributors, EMS organizations, and OEMs – as well as global commodity price fluctuations and a continuing demand for shorter product lead times – are among several evolving macro trends currently facing the global electronics supply chain. ESS recently hosted its annual Supplier Conference with the theme of assessing these macro events currently impacting the EMS industry and how ESS’s supply chain organization can engage with suppliers to prosper in a dynamically changing industry.

The certification demonstrates ESS’s robust quality systems for medical device assembly and commitment to the medical device manufacturing sector. The Brampton, Ontario operation joins ESS’s Cambridge, Ontario and Barrie, Ontario operations in obtaining ISO13485 certification.
